Edin Džeko is close to a deal with Inter, according to Italian media. The Nerazzurri are reportedly taking advantage of the national break at the moment and despite previous speculation, negotiations are moving in the right direction.
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Inter Milan striker Edin Džeko is open to the idea of signing a one-year contract extension.
This is despite the fact that initially the 37-year-old Bosnian international wanted to sign a two-year deal.
The current third Serie A club did not accept the option of a two-year extension and naturally, speculations about Džeko’s departure from Milan were then rife.
But now it seems that everything is heading in the right direction and Džeko is closer to staying at the club after the end of the current season.
Džeko also has two offers from abroad, but the Italian media did not specify which clubs have shown interest in his services.
As for a contract extension, Džeko is expected to earn five million euros per season at Inter. The Bosnian striker wants to stay in Milan, although the new financial offer is lower than the salary under his current contract.
Currently, Džeko is earning six million per season at Inter, plus performance bonuses. It should be added, this is the same salary he was taking back in Rome before joining the Milanese big club.
Džeko has started 27 games in an Inter jersey in the current league season, scoring seven goals and assisting four more. However, he is not going through a good run at the moment as he has not scored in a competitive match since January 4.
