The Nmecha surname is represented in Germany, specifically at Wolfsburg, by two brothers – midfielder Felix and striker Lukas. Together they contributed to Wolfsburg’s good season, but they fell just one point behind the cup leaders.
But Felix, who has become a key man in Wolfsburg’s line-up, is now moving to Borussia Dortmund, where he has signed a contract until 2028 and will also play in the Champions League.
The lanky midfielder, meanwhile, grew up playing football at Manchester City, from where he left in the summer of 2021 for the aforementioned Wolfsburg. He spent his first season reacquainting himself with German football, but last season he was already a key man in the starting line-up as the season progressed.
In the end, he played 32 games for VfL, during which he scored 3 goals and assisted 6 more. However, his main contribution was in the midfield, where he was one of the best players on the pitch in a number of games.
He can be expected to find his place in Dortmund, as Edin Terzic doesn’t have a similar player typologically. He can then appreciate especially his help in standard situations, since we are talking about a 190 cm tall player.
His performances have already helped him into the German national team when Hansi Flick used him for 58 minutes in a friendly against Belgium, which the Germans lost and Nmecha received a yellow card.
The skilful midfielder started out in the England U16s, after which he played 3 games for Germany’s U18s, before spending time in the Albion squad again. At U21, however, he played only for Germany, which he eventually chose. After all, he was born in Hamburg.
Nmecha could do great things if he can fulfill his potential. Given his height, he is very good physically. If he continues to improve technically, we will surely see a big transfer one day. He has already cost Borussia 30 million euros.
