Do you play tennis? No? Then don’t tell me how to play! Kyrgios wrote off a spectator in the middle of the match
With Nick Kyrgios, you’re never bored. Some love him for his affairs, others can’t stand him. But the fact is that the Australian troublemaker attracts attention wherever he goes. Just like he did in Indian Wells during his quarter-final with Rafael Nadal.
With Nick Kyrgios, you’re never bored. Some love him for his affairs, others can’t stand him. But the fact is that the Australian troublemaker attracts attention wherever he goes. Just like he did in Indian Wells during his quarter-final with Rafael Nadal.
Kyrgios had a good tournament in Indian Wells. He’s knocked out the 60th ranked player in the rankings, Baez, 34th. Delbonis and eighth-ranked Ruud. In the eighth round, he advanced without a fight over Sinner.
In the quarter-finals, he faced his biggest challenge yet, the undefeated Rafael Nadal. And it was a thrilling match indeed. The first set went to a tiebreak, which the Spaniard won 7:0. In the second set, the 26-year-old Australian won 7::5 and it was on to the third and deciding set.
However, at 2: 2 came the classic Kyrgios affair that went around the world. “Do you play tennis? “ Are you any good at it?” whereupon the answer came from the audience
“Exactly, so why are you talking? Am I telling him (pointing to actor Ben Stiller) how to play? No,” continued an angry Kyrgios.
Kyrgios eventually lost 4::6 and bid farewell to Indian Wells. Nadal, on the other hand, will face his compatriot and anointed successor, 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, in the semifinals.
