Dinamo Zagreb is in a storm after being knocked out of the Champions League. The Croatian side lost 1:2 at home to AEK in the third round, but were 2:0 up in the return leg and heading for promotion.
However, they scored twice in the set-up and had to say goodbye to the Champions League. Now he has to fight to play at least in the Europa League and not head to the Conference League.
His opponent will be Sparta Prague and their coach Brian Priske doesn’t know where his head is at the moment. Dinamo’s management has made his preparation very difficult.
Zagreb is selling two of its mainstays. The first to leave is stopper Josip Šutalo, who was scouted by Ajax Amsterdam. But also on the way out is the key goalkeeper and one of the best goalkeepers of the World Cup in Qatar, Dominik Livakovic.
According to Croatian website Germanijak, the 28-year-old goalkeeper is on his way to Fenerbahce. The Dinamo number one has eight seasons under his belt and is expected to fly to Turkey on Wednesday, where he will undergo a medical examination and then sign a contract with the famous Turkish club. The price is expected to reach 9 million euros.
Both news were certainly positive for Sparta and they increase the chances of Letná’s promotion, but the same cannot be said about the other one. Dinamo has dismissed coach Igor Biscan, who had been leading the team since April 6.
He had led the team to victory in the league and the Super Cup, but he had a bad start to the season, when they dropped out of the Champions League and gained only four points in three league games. In total, he led Dinamo to only 17 matches with a record of 10 wins, five draws and two losses.
Dinamo also announced a new coach at the same time, who is Sergej Jakirovic, former coach of Rijeka. He brings with him the entire implementation team.
