Twenty-five-year-old Dutchman Denzel Dumfries is on his way out of PSV Eindhoven, according to Fabrizio Romano. The PSV captain and star of this year’s European Championship is joining Inter Milan as a replacement for the offensive-minded Achraf Hakimi, who signed for Paris at the start of the summer.
Inter Milan are dealing with major financial problems and after Hakimi, the Nerazzurri’s biggest mainstay Romelu Lukaku is also on his way out. Furthermore, it looks like Milan will no longer be able to use the services of Danish international Christian Eriksen and the theoretical departure of Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez is also in play.
Inter Milan are really shaking in their foundations, as even coach Antonio Conte, who helped the Nerazzuri win the coveted title, has left after a drastic purge of the squad that doesn’t seem to be over yet. The new coach is Simone Inzaghi, who made a name for himself with a great job at Lazio Roma.
Fortunately, it’s not all about departures, Inter brought in top scorer Hakan Calhanoglu from rival AC at the beginning of the summer when his contract expired, so he came in as a free agent.
Another reinforcement is then defender Matteo Darmian and the latest acquisition should be striker Edin Džeko, who is expected to sign a contract in Milan until 2023.
Currently, the Nerazzurri want to complete the transfer of Dutchman Dumfries as soon as possible and then focus on the next reinforcement, namely Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, who has been linked with the Milan club for a long time.
Dumfries has been at PSV Eindhoven since 2018 and has managed to score 124 games there and has become the team captain, among other things. He is one of the unwavering pillars of the national team’s starting line-up which he showed at the summer championship. The price of the 25-year-old Dutchman and native of Rotterdam is expected to be around 20 million euros.
