Few footballers maintain such a hunger, such a desire to score goals and break records throughout their career. Cristiano Ronaldo is now 36 years old, but since he was 18 he has been at world level. Check out a rundown of all his national team records.

Ronaldo once again drew attention to himself in Tuesday’s game against Luxembourg when he netted a hat-trick. It was his tenth hat-trick for the national team, the only one he has ever managed.

Let’s take a look at a summary of all of Ronaldo’s national team records::

1. Most national team goals

This record alone speaks volumes about what an achievement this is. At the September national team meeting, Ronaldo surpassed Iran’s Ali Daei, who had 111 goals. He hit 4 times in the October gathering and is clearly in the lead with 115 goals.

2. Most national team goals in a calendar year

In 2017, Ronaldo scored 32 goals for Portugal, the most ever scored by a player in a calendar year.

3. The only player to score in four consecutive World Cups

When he scored in the first game against Spain at the 2018 World Cup, he became the first and only player ever to score in four consecutive World Cups. He had previously scored in 2014 in Brazil, 2010 in South Africa and 2006 in Germany. And he can add a fifth World Cup in Qatar.

4. The oldest player to score a hat-trick at a World Cup

At the age of 33 years and 130 days, Ronaldo became the oldest player ever to score a hat-trick at the World Cup. In 2018, he scored three times in the first match against Spain in a 3-3 draw.

5. He has scored against the most national teams

With his goal against Qatar at the start of the October meeting, Ronaldo increased the number of opponents he has scored against in the national team. Portugal have celebrated his goal against 45 different opponents, a world record.

6. The only player to score at 5 Euros

Cristiano has scored at every European Championship since 2004, making him the only player to score at five different Euros.

7. Most starts for the national team

After starting against Luxembourg, Ronaldo now has the most national team starts. He has donned the Portugal jersey on 182 occasions.

8. Top scorer at the Euros

Before Euro 2020, Ronaldo shared the trophy with Michel Platini, both of whom had 9 goals. But the Portuguese sent himself to the top in style, scoring five times in four games to take the king of goalscorers crown. He now has 14 goals at the Euros.

9. Most wins as a player at the Euros

Prior to Euro 2020, Ronaldo had experienced winning the European Championship 11 times, as had Cesc Fabregas and Andrés Iniesta. With the win against Hungary in the opening game, the Portuguese has claimed that record for himself.

10. Most national team hat-tricks

The Portuguese icon scored 10 hat-tricks in the national jersey, the most ever collected by any player. Iran’s Ali Daei has 8 hat-tricks, while Lionel Messi has 7.

11. The only player to score in 10 consecutive international competitions

Ronaldo is the only player to have scored at 10 major international events. Five times EURO (2004,2008,2012,2016,2020), four times World Cup (2006,2010,2014,2018) and the Nations League (2018).
