Jablonec did something unexpected on Thursday. They were 4:0 up at half-time against Žilina and won the match 5:1, so they take an excellent and very promising result into the rematch. What did coach Petr Rada say about the performance of his charges at the press conference?
Jablonec took a big step towards promotion in the first match against Žilina. The Slovakian team was crushed by the results and the 5:1 win gives a good hope for the rematch.
The match was almost over by half-time, which the North Czechs won 4:0. Žilina reduced the deficit in the second half, but in the 90th minute stopper Martinec returned the four-goal lead to his team.
“I am satisfied with the victory, but we are halfway there. We played very well in the first half. Then we had a passage when the opponent was a bit more active and there we conceded a goal. We got out of it with a substitution and with the fifth goal we finished the game.
What was bothering us before, worked today. Žilina didn’t give up even at 0:4 and kept trying. The players know what’s going on now. Next week we will play on artificial grass. It will be unpleasant. It’s going to be a very difficult journey,” said coach Rada at the press conference.
The Jablonec coach is well aware that if his team can win this high, they can burn out in the rematch just like Žilina is doing now.
Moreover, the game in Slovakia will be played on artificial grass. However, if Jablonec could manage the rematch, there would be a great hope for the 4 teams in the group stage, as Viktoria Plzen also won 2:0 at home.
