Copenhagen coach Neestrup: Their performance was exactly what we expected. It could have been a different game in Prague
The opening match between Sparta and Copenhagen ended in a 0:0 draw. Sparta came for a draw and with a responsible performance they won it, although if it wasn’t for the excellent goalkeeper Peter Vindahl and a piece of luck, we couldn’t be this positive. What did the Copenhagen coach say at the press conference?

Sparta fans have finally seen the championship title and thanks to that they can cheer for their favourite team in the Champions League preliminaries. The first opponent is FC Copenhagen and the opening match is over.
It turned out as many expected. Sparta defended responsibly, Copenhagen pressed and in the end we didn’t see a goal. The 0:0 result is better for the Prague team, who host the return leg next Tuesday.
“Of course I am sorry that we didn’t win the match, we had chances to do so. Especially in the last part of the match, when we pushed Sparta quite hard. On the other hand, I have to admit that after the first half they could have won.
We made some big individual mistakes. At the same time, those were the only chances we offered them,” said Copenhagen coach Jacob Neestrup at the post-match press conference.
Sparta didn’t surprise his team with anything, after all they played as many suspected. But this time it was enough, and in the rematch we might expect a different course of the game, they should push as well.
“Their performance was exactly what we expected. It could be a different game in Prague, sometimes we will probably find ourselves under pressure there. But I 100% believe we can win there,” he added.
The return leg is next Tuesday at 7pm at Letná, but both clubs still have a league match between now and then. Sparta travel to Jablonec on Saturday, while Copenhagen host Odense at home on Friday.
