Comment on Liverpool heading for big wins again or Key factors for this year’s success

Liverpool struggled with a number of problems last season, which they eventually managed to relatively patch up enough to finish the season in 5th place in the league table. Back in the spring, it was publicly communicated in the media, especially by Jürgen Klopp, that the Reds were in for a significant turnover of the squad. This has also come and the team has caught a new breath.

A new Liverpool with a new midfield

Klopp had to address the midfield in particular, which was the team’s biggest weakness last season. That’s why a trio of talented midfielders – Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch – came for more than 150 million euros.

The Reds have secured their midfield with yet another purchase of defensive midfielder Watar Endo, who arrived from Stuttgart for €20 million. From my point of view, a great move to bring a very honest player with steady performances and most importantly experience to Anfield.

The fans have been getting to know what a good move this was for Liverpool, especially in recent weeks. Because once again a number of injured players are being dealt with and any capable footballer is welcome.

Team spirit

It is not only the midfield that has changed in the German coach’s team. It is above all a kind of team chemistry that now oozes from every Reds player. Looking at the games, you can see how everyone is enjoying football again. This, of course, is reflected in the results.

This can be seen quite clearly in the xPTS statistics, which say that Liverpool should have 32.45 points instead of the actual 38. Happiness, in short, belongs to a good mood, after all, it is its end product.

Salah on top again

For Mohamed Salah, Liverpool could really get a lot of millions to invest in new reinforcements this summer. However, the management led by Klopp said no and did the right thing! The Egyptian striker continues to perform at his peak and has already scored 15 goals and assisted 8 more in 24 games this season.

Salah has been productive for a number of years now with virtually no fluctuation in his performances. This season, however, more things have fallen into place and his performances have been complemented by others, especially the aforementioned midfield.

This is most noticeable then on the defensive end, as last Premier League season the Reds conceded 47 goals, this season we’re almost halfway through and so far we’re on a stat of 15 goals.

As far as the attack is concerned, it is holding its standard. Here too we can see the great contribution of the Japanese midfielder Endo, but he probably won’t be celebrated as much as Salah and others whose results are more visible. Of course, it is not only him, the defence, led by Virgil van Dijk, who is the Reds’ second highest rated player this season, has also caught its second wind along with the midfield.
