The match between the Czech Republic and Wales ended in a 2:2 draw, but the visitors were the better side. However, goalkeeper Danny Ward’s inattention cost them three points. Tomáš Vaclík expressed his support for him after the match not only in an interview with the media, but also on social media.

It was the 49th minute of the match. The score was 1-1 on the scoreboard when Aaron Ramsey sent a little home to goalkeeper Danny Ward. But he had a very unfortunate moment.

He tried to handle the ball but couldn’t. He did manage to catch it before it crossed the goal line, but only hit the bar, from which it bounced into the net. The Czech Republic took the lead 2:1.

In the rest of the match, the Wales goalkeeper had to deal with a lot of pressure. The home fans were eating up his own goal every time a pass was headed towards him. But he didn’t let another ball into the net and the game ended 2-2.

Immediately after the match, Tomáš Vaclík commented on the whole situation and sympathized with his teammate.

“My hands went up briefly, but I soon put them down again. It’s terrible for a goalkeeper when he gets hit like that. Lime wasn’t in the best condition here, so I feel for him,” Vaclik said in an interview with Czech Television.

“An own goal like that is a nightmare for all goalkeepers, especially in a national team match. Cheer up and good luck in the next matches!”

The native of Ostrava showed great character and won fans even in the British Isles.
