Václav Černý is back on the football field again! On Thursday, after 10 long months, he appeared in the Twente jersey directly in the match against the Belgian team Waasland-Beveren.
Václav Černý has been with Twente since last season. He received a lot of trust from the club and it showed in his performances. He felt comfortable and shone on the pitch.
But everything went wrong in January this year. In a game against Ajax, where he had spent several years, he seriously injured his knee after just seven minutes on the pitch. This knocked him out of the game for a long time.
But on Thursday he returned to the pitch after 10 months. Twente played a friendly against Belgian side Waasland-Beveren and the 24-year-old winger played around 20 minutes.
“It’s a fantastic feeling. I’ve been looking forward to this every day all this time. But the best is yet to come. I was anxious because I missed playing football. I enjoyed those 20 minutes. My day couldn’t be better, I’m back,” Cerny told the club’s website.
“The last few months have been difficult for me. It took a lot out of me, but I set my mind right. Mentally, I proved to myself that I can get going again. It’s a great feeling. I have fantastic people around me and the club is hugely supportive,” he added.
Now the Czech footballer has to get fit and get in shape. What is certain is that the club will definitely give him a chance once they are convinced that Cerny is ready and his start will not be risky.
