José Mourinho is one of the most successful coaches in the world. The special one is unique and has won him a lot of fans, but also a lot of detractors. Among them is former Real Madrid footballer and legendary bohemian Antonio Cassano.

He’s never been shy about saying what he thinks. What’s in his heart is in his mouth, that’s always been true of Antonio Cassano. He had a great talent from God, but unfortunately he was absolutely not in tune in his head and that is mainly why his career did not reach the heights that were expected.

In 2006, Cassano earned a transfer to Real Madrid, but it was money well spent. The Italian footballer was famous for his insane lifestyle and even worse diet.

“In Madrid, I made a friend out of a hotel waiter. His job was to bring me sweets after sex. He came out in the elevator with the sweets, I handed him my wife at the door and we made the exchange. He took the woman and I took the candy. Sex and then food, a perfect night,” Cassano later described his life in Madrid.

And in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, he added another Real Madrid pearl. He came to the show in a bold fur coat, causing a big stir.

“I remember that the day before the presentation with Real Madrid, Emilio Butragueño approached me and said: ‘Antonio, dress well tomorrow’. I showed up with a fur coat, two watches, four rings, three necklaces, two bracelets, two earrings… Emilio went white after seeing me. It was like I was from the third world. But to go to Madrid like that, you had to have balls. Or maybe, now that I have a wife and kids, I was a bit of an idiot…,” Cassano describes.

Harsh words for Mourinho

But Cassano didn’t leave the thread dry on José Mourinho either. It’s no secret that the Italian footballer is definitely not a fan of the Portuguese coach.

“Let me explain how I see it. I don’t let myself be influenced by names, I’ve never been in anybody’s business,” Cassano began.

“Mourinho must understand that as long as his teams play so badly, there will always be at least one person who will tell him:: me. Has he won so much? I don’t care. It’s the same for him as it is for Allegri. With the great players they have, they play obscene football. They’ve got trophies in the trophy cabinet, so what? If their teams are playing shit…. So I will say it and I will not hide,” the former footballer tells the Italian newspaper sharply.

“He often makes excuses that his team is not good enough. That’s his favourite excuse to blame others. Some newspaper editors and TV commentators tell him this lie. But AS Roma has the third highest budget in Italy after Inter and Juventus. The strongest player on the market was Dybala and they got him. And then Matic and Wijnaldum, they met all his demands,” Cassano added.
