Last week came a rather unexpected news for MMA fans. A new organization, RFA, came to the Czech-Slovak market and immediately started negotiations with fighters. Oktagon has already dragged the star Leo Brichta, who nevertheless still has a valid contract in the organization. What did Brichta’s manager Pavel Touš say about this?

The name of Leo Brichta is now widely discussed on the Czech-Slovak scene. The popular fighter no longer wants to fight in the Octagon and has signed a contract with the RFA.

The problem is that he is still under a one-fight contract in the Octagon, possibly until the summer of 2023.

In an interview with Kaocko now, Pavel Touš, Brichta’s manager, explained how the negotiations went and why he doesn’t agree to sign a contract with the RFA.

“I have no problem with RFA. We met about three months ago and signed Plavec and Rabbit. We also talked about Leos, negotiations were ongoing, I expressed my opinion, but I always act in the interest of the fighter.

If he wants a change, I accept his wishes. That was also the case here. I informed Ondrej Novotny about Brichta’s decision. Everybody knew that Leo had one more fight under OKTAGON,” he said.

“OKTAGON said ok, he will have one fight with us and we will not stop him from leaving. Maybe he’ll be back in a year or two. But the day before the event in Bratislava I learned that Leo was going to the RFA press conference.

I called Boris and told him that it was unacceptable for a fighter with a contract in another organization to appear publicly under another organization and be presented there as their new fighter. The point here is that a signed fighter cannot sign a new contract. That’s against all the rules,” he added.

So it’s a question of how this situation will play out. However, Octagon may make trouble and not give Bricht a fight until the latest possible date. More likely, though, is that the two sides will simply come to an agreement.
