In today’s football world, coaches who believe only in their own truth, fail to adapt to new things and fail to learn from mistakes will no longer succeed. Nowadays you need to be aware of the world around you and the opinions of others. And that’s exactly what Marco Rose has done.

the 44-year-old coach enjoyed great success last season, reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League with Borussia Mönchengladbach. In the summer, he thus moved to the bench of the better-known Borussia from Dortmund.

The young, progressive coach prescribes his charges a very demanding, running and attractive style of play in which many goals are scored.

This was demonstrated in the first round of the Bundesliga when Dortmund beat Frankfurt 5-2. Not only Erling Haaland (2 goals, 3 assists) but also Marco Reus (1 goal, 2 assists) played a big part in the victory. However, the BVB captain also helped to win in other ways.

“Marco Reus came to me at one point and told me to play a 4-2-3-1 formation, because Frankfurt play differently with a 4-1-4-1. I said ok, if the captain feels that way on the pitch, that’s what we’ll do, and I like that. Own responsibility,” said Dortmund coach Marco Rose in a post-match interview with ZDF.

Borussia actually beat their opponents with this formation, with Dahoud and Bellingham filling the role of the two shield midfielders, with Reyna playing in front of them. Of the attacking trio of Reus, Haaland, Hazard each made their mark on the stats with a goal scored.
