OKTAGON Prime 5 will offer a good batch of great fights. Bojan Velickovic and Mate Kertesz will provide the main event, the winner could potentially be the next title challenger.
Velickovic is a veteran of the UFC and has had some very tough fights, even beating Jiri Prochazka a few years ago. His performances in the Octagon earned him a title fight, but in that fight he was no match for David Kozma, who was able to defeat him by TKO in the fourth round.
Kertesz has been in the Octagon since 2018, and has had nine fights in the organization, losing only three times, twice of which were to Kozma. Unlike Velickovic, however, he was able to hold on to both fights until the end, decided by points.
It is the fights of both fighters with Kozma that can be a kind of benchmark. Although Kertesz fought the champion for the second time a year and a half ago, Kozma showed great qualities even then.
Kozma was able to beat Velickovic in almost all aspects, the Serbian only floored him with one headkick that put him in trouble. However, Kertesz was able to stand up to Kozma, and he was skilled in the stand-up as well.
Velickovic will be the favourite in the fight, but it’s questionable whether he’s right. While Velickovic is a complex fighter, the same can be said for Kertesz, who might be stronger in wrestling and ground control.
That’s what could earn the Hungarian a points win, but he’s unlikely to win any other way. Velickovic will threaten with his kicks as usual, but Kertesz has never been stopped. Not even Jungwirth, who beat him badly in the stand-up.
The fight definitely won’t end in the first round, it could end up on points. If you’re not afraid to take a risk, you could try to bet on Kertesz to win on points. The odds of 5.50 are very tempting.
