Neymar is not having the happiest time of his career. His summer move from Europe to the Middle East hasn’t worked out so far, and now he’ll miss a big part of the season.

For ten years, Neymar showed his skills in Europe. He became such a phenomenon at Santos in Brazil that he came to Barcelona as a finished player and a superstar, not a talented youngster.

In Catalonia, he showed it immediately, too, becoming one of the best players on the planet within four seasons and, according to many, the third best behind Ronaldo and Messi.

But then he decided that in the same team with Messi he would never step out of his shadow and surpass him, so he decided to leave for a record 222 million euros to PSG.

He spent six years in Paris, but his mission could not be considered a success. His individual stats were solid, but he did nothing in the Champions League except for one final, often missing important knockout games and gradually the fans started to dislike him.

So in the summer he decided to leave and, like many other stars, chose Saudi Arabia. Al-Hilal paid 100 million euros for him, but he will probably expect a bit more from the Brazilian.

In three league games, Neymar has yet to score a single goal and has registered at least two assists. At least he scored in the Asian Champions League against Nassau Mazandaran.

But now there’s been a bit of a disaster. In a qualifying match between Brazil and Uruguay, Neymar tore the cruciate ligament in his knee and also his meniscus. Al-Hilal announced that he would have to undergo surgery.

The length of recovery has not been announced by the club, but for cruciate ligaments, the absence ranges from 6 to 12 months, depending on the severity of the situation.
