Preview
Bayern Munich didn’t get off to the best start in 2023. Although they went on to beat PSG in the Champions League, things are falling apart in the Bundesliga. The Bavarian giant have won just five of their ten league games since the start of the year, costing Julian Nagelsmann his job.
Borussia Dortmund have taken advantage of their rival’s few losses and have scrambled up the table. However, they hold the slimmest possible lead of one point. A win at the Allianz Arena would therefore be most welcome.
But nobody knows what to expect from Bayern. The new coach is Thomas Tuchel, who was once head coach at Dortmund. The German coach will therefore have a very spicy debut on the Munich bench.
It is also a question of how the two clubs will put their line-ups together. Bayern will have to do without Jamal Musiala. Borussia still don’t know if Karim Adeyemi and Nico Schlotterbeck will be able to start.
However, the stats of the games at the Allianz Arena clearly suggest that the home side is the big favourite. Bayern have dominated the last eight Bundesliga games in Munich. Dortmund have been scoring in their matches, especially on home soil. It’s not so good away.
If you don’t want to bet on the winner, bet on the goals. In 107 Bundesliga matches between these clubs alone, 346 goals have been scored, or 3.28 goals per game. In the last seven matches we have always seen at least four goals and it should be no different now.
