Bayern brought in Tuchel so he wouldn’t lose his chance at the treble. After losing to Mainz, it is close to a trophyless season
It may be shortsighted to judge this trade, but so far it appears to be one of the worst moves in Bayern’s modern history. The management of the Bavarian side has traded Thomas Tuchel for Julian Nagelsmann, but so far it has absolutely not yielded the desired result.

Sure, it’s quite possible that Tuchel will rebuild the squad in his own image in the summer, turn it into a success machine, and Bayern will be off and running again. At that point, no one would question a coaching change.
But at the moment it looks pretty much against the former Chelsea or PSG coach. Bayern Munich reportedly brought in Tuchel for three reasons.
The first one was Nagelsmann’s disagreements with some people in the management and also in the cabin, which the young coach allegedly lost. However, the change would wait until the summer, but the second reason was that Thomas Tuchel, who had been linked with Real Madrid, Tottenham or PSG, was available and Bayern did not want to lose him as the management had been after the German coach for a long time.
And the third reason was to be the fear of Bayern’s treble being in danger. The Bavarians had done well against PSG in the Champions League eight-finals and were in the quarter-finals, Freiburg awaited them in the DFB Pokal quarter-finals, but they had dropped to second place in the Bundesliga after losing to Leverkusen and so the management feared that the treble challenge was in danger.
Treble? More like no trophy
Less than a month under Tuchel’s leadership and boom, not only is the treble effectively gone, but a season without a trophy is looming, which Bayern may not even know what that feels like anymore.
Kimmich and co. have just been eliminated by Freiburg, in the Champions League they were eliminated by Manchester City and in the Bundesliga after the last defeat to Mainz they lost the first place again, where Dortmund returned thanks to a 4: 0 win over Frankfurt.
Bayern are Borussia’s only bogeyman and this was confirmed at the beginning of April when they lost 2:4 at the Allianz Arena. But they won’t play their rivals again, they have a relatively favourable draw until the end of the season (Bochum, Wolfsburg, Mönchengladbach, Augsburg, Mainz).
Dortmund is hungry for the title and to win it after so many years is the dream of the whole club. And now they have everything in their own hands and don’t have to look to anyone. A huge change from recent years when Bayern celebrated the title eight or more rounds before the end.
And it is not impossible that Bayern in their current state will continue to lose, especially when they still have to face a game against the unpleasant Leipzig.
If the club’s management felt that Bayern were playing below their capabilities under Nagelsmann, then what about under Tuchel. The new coach has won only two games out of seven, otherwise he has notched up three defeats and two draws. This change of coach could be very costly.
