According to Ferran Reverter (CEO), Barcelona has the finances to bring in new signings in January and in the summer. So let’s take a look at who could strengthen Xavi’s team at the beginning of next year.

Edinson Cavani

Barcelona were supposed to be helped in attack by Sergio Agüero, but he will probably have to retire from football at the age of thirty-three after the heart problems that have been discovered recently.

The Catalan side has lost a top striker who is capable of scoring goals on a regular basis. His replacement could therefore be Cavani in January, who is not playing at all after Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Manchester United and is expected to leave sooner or later.

Barcelona could take advantage of this, as the Uruguayan striker will definitely not be expensive and he still has his quality. For Xavi, this is an ideal short-term solution.

Anthony Martial

Another Red Devils winger is in a very similar situation, unable to make it in the big competition. And when he does, his performances are very poor.

He could restart his career at Barcelona. After all, it must be stressed that he is a 25-year-old player who has already had a lot of experience and I personally am of the opinion that he just needs the right team.

There would certainly be a guest option here, if his engagement at Camp Nou goes well, both parties will come into their own in a possible buyout.

Moreover, Martial is technically brilliant and could become a great player at Barcelona.

Ferran Torres

Xavi would reportedly love to see Spanish daily Sport’s Ferran Torres in his team. However, Manchester City reportedly want at least €80 million for the talented winger, which is apparently currently beyond the means of the Catalan outfit, who are in big financial trouble.

A lot will certainly depend on how the negotiations with Ousmane Dembele go, whose possible departure/sale could free up some funds for such an investment.

Julian Alvarez

Financial problems are of course forcing Barcelona to look outside Europe for cheap goods as well. One interesting reinforcement could be 21-year-old Julian Alvarez, who has scored 17 goals for River Plate and assisted on another 7.

Barcelona have been tracking Alvarez for some time now, so it will be interesting to see if he convinces them enough with his performances to pay around €20 million for him, which is the amount he is currently valued at.
