At UFC 285, fans saw the filming of the Road House remake
Fans saw their fair share of fights at the ongoing UFC 285 event. Perhaps the most exciting was the return of living legend Jon Jones, who successfully returned after a three-year fight fast straight into a title fight for the heavyweight championship belt.
However, the gala featured a fight that was outside of any organization’s rankings. As a result, the audience present at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas got to see the footage that movie fans around the world have been waiting for.
In fact, the filming of the remake of the movie Road House took place at the aforementioned tournament. In the original film, Patrick Swayze appeared in the role of a bouncer who takes care of the order of a wild nightclub and the whole city.
The supporting role was given to UFC star Conor McGregor
The iconic 1989 film gets a new coat this year and filming is already underway. Doug Liman’s film will feature, among others, UFC star Conor McGregor in a supporting role, who is currently working on his return to the cage.
It was the Irish megastar who appeared at the weigh-ins ahead of UFC 285, where he ran on stage, microphone in hand, and made quite a splash once again. “Who’s ready for tomorrow night? All of you in this arena will be part of my film,” he shouted to the roaring crowd.
He set the stage for tonight’s film, straight from the UFC 285 tournament. The filmmakers took advantage of a crowd that was waiting for the results of another numbered tournament.
Jake Gyllenhaal will appear in the lead role
Jake Gyllenhaal will appear in the lead role of the remake, playing the part of a former UFC fighter who accepts a job as a bouncer. Gyllenhaal made appearances at both yesterday’s weigh-ins alongside Dana White and at today’s tournament, where he was called out by Bruce Buffer.
A fight scene featuring Gyllenhaal taking on former UFC fighter Jay Hieron then showed that moviegoers have a lot to look forward to. The knockout by jumping knee, modeled after Jorge Masvidal’s, sent the social media world flying.
The remake is reportedly being filmed in the Dominican Republic and will stream on Amazon Prime once it’s completed. So the UFC has once again shown its business skills after leasing its tournament to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
