It is a common story with players from South America or Africa, but one that never gets old. Endrick Felipe is no exception. The young Brazilian footballer comes from a very poor background.
His family sold coffee on the subway, but it wasn’t enough. Some days they had nothing to eat. As a young boy, Endrick promised his father that he would become a professional footballer and lift his family out of poverty.
And he certainly didn’t slack off. From an early age, he showed great potential, which only increased with each candle on the cake. So much so, in fact, that at the age of 15 he was already playing for the Palmeiras first team.
Even in adult football he quickly caught on and suddenly the whole world was interested in him. Endrick could choose – Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United – the best possible choice.
In his own words, Endrick chose the biggest club of all and headed to the Spanish capital. He signed for Real Madrid at the age of 16, fulfilling a promise he made to his father when he was young.
The young prodigy had his entire family with him when he signed the contract and they were all overcome with emotion. A Christmas present like this made everyone’s dream come true.
However, Endrick will not join Los Blancos until 2024, when he turns 18. Until then, Palmeiras will oversee his growth. Real Madrid will pay a sum of €35 million for the young Brazilian super talent, with another €25 million available in bonuses.
