Arsenal won the ninth round of the Premier League, beating Aston Villa 3-1 at home. The goals were scored by Thomas Partey, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Emile Smith-Rowe, with Jacob Ramsey on the other side.
The first chance was not given by Arsenal in the fourth minute, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at first missed the ball perfectly with his scissors, and Bukayo Saka scored from the rebound. In the 12th minute, Emile Smith-Rowe sent a bomb towards goal, but the visiting defence stopped it.
In the 20th minute, the troubled Villains saved the bar, with Thomas Partey firing in from a volley. Three minutes later, the Ghanaian midfielder was celebrating. After a corner kick, he sent the ball to the back post with his head. Bukayo Saka had the second goal in the 30th minute, but Emiliano Martinez made an excellent save.
Late in the first half, Partey headed again, but this time over. Alexandre Lacazette was then brought down in the whitewash and the head referee pointed to the spot after watching the replay. Aubameyang took the ball and although Martinez saved it, he was short on the finish.
Aston Villa did not respond until the 47th minute, but Ollie Watkins did not beat Aaron Ramsdale. In the 56th minute, it was all over. Aubameyang found Smith-Rowe superbly and he was extremely lucky to get the ball into the net.
The Villains didn’t give up though. Emiliano Buendía failed to score twice, and Martinez saved Aubameyang’s shot at the other end. It was only in the 82nd minute that the away fans could celebrate, with a beautiful shot from Jacob Ramsey clearing the right post.
Leon Bailey tried again from a direct kick, but missed the target and Arsenal took three points after winning 3-1.
