Arsenal lose to Porto with a last minute goal. Galeno scored a beautiful goal to decide

A more cautious battle than expected. Porto’s clash with Arsenal in the opening Champions League semi-final offered a goal only in stoppage time. Galeno, who had earlier in the first half hit the crossbar in a double chance and missed from the spot.

The opening of the match was primarily marked by hard tackles, with Mikel Arteta receiving a yellow card in the second minute. The first major chance came in the 23rd minute, but Galeno hit the crossbar only to punishingly miss.

In the final passage, it looked as if both teams would take the point. The game was very patchy, Arsenal were the more active side, but AS did not really push forward. Even ten corners were not enough to put the Gunners in any significant danger.

In stoppage time, the visiting Gabriel headed, but uncharacteristically his header missed the target. Just when it seemed to be done, Galeno took the ball from distance and this time he was accurate. Porto take a 1-0 lead into the Emirates Stadium.
