Another signing for West Ham? Jesse Lingard has started training with the team
Even after the end of the transfer window, West Ham are looking to strengthen. That’s the only way to go now and the Hammers have taken a liking to Jesse Lingard, who has already been in London.
Even after the end of the transfer window, West Ham are looking to strengthen. The only way to do that is through free agents and the Hammers have taken a liking to Jesse Lingard, who has already been in London.
Jesse Lingard is not an unfamiliar name to West Ham. The Manchester United alumnus played for the A-team for five straight years until he dropped out of the squad and in the winter of 2021, both parties decided that a suitable loan move would benefit Lingard.
Lingard chose West Ham and it was a slam dunk. He played 16 games in the spring, scoring 9 goals and adding 4 assists. It was his best season not only in terms of goals but also points. And he only played half a season at West Ham.
So the Hammers logically wanted to get Lingard permanently, but the Warrington native was bidding a lot of money. West Ham logically couldn’t afford the same salary he had in Manchester.
So Lingard stayed at United, where he played only sixteen Premier League games during the season and scored two goals. He certainly didn’t build on his West Ham phase of his life.
His contract at Old Trafford expired last summer and West Ham came calling again. But once again it came down to money, so Lingard chose Nottingham Forrest instead.
But that was a mistake, he hit 17 duels during the season, in which he didn’t register even once in the stats. His one-year contract was not renewed and Lingard became a free agent again.
He had been waiting all summer for a new deal and now he could finally take the job at West Ham. Although some fans are wondering if the club is still interested in Lingard after the latest negotiations, David Moyes has simply taken a liking to the former England international.
Jesse Lingard is currently already training with West Ham, however there is still contract negotiations to come, which have failed twice. This time, however, Lingard has no choice and if he still wants to play in the Premier League, he shouldn’t flinch too much.
