An unflattering calling card for Coach Potter! No Chelsea coach in the modern Premier League has done so badly

Chelsea are in a bad way this season. They are in tenth position in the Premier League after 23 rounds and their chances of finishing in the cup. To make matters worse, coach Graham Potter has an unpleasant statistic. In the history of the Premier League, the Blues have never had a worse coach.

The London outfit is having a really bad season. Coach Thomas Tuchel was sacked fairly early on and the move to bring in Graham Potter initially looked like an excellent one.

Potter gave the team a boost and Chelsea started winning and picking up points. But it didn’t last long. Since November, the Blues have been miserable and winning games in all competitions has been difficult for them.

As far as the English league is concerned, Potter enjoys an unflattering statistic. Of all the coaches who have ever led Chelsea since the Premier League’s inception, he has the lowest ever percentage of games won. The ranking was compiled by The Sun.

The Blues under Potter have won 5 of their 17 league games, lost 6 and drawn 6. That’s a 29.4% win rate overall.

Relatively close to Potter are Ian Porterfield (31% success rate in 29 games from 1991-1993) and Glenn Hoddle (31.1% success rate in 122 games from 1993-1996).

On the other hand, Avram Grant (68.8% success rate in 32 matches) is at the top of this table, while Antonio Conte (67.1% success rate in 76 matches) and Jose Mourinho (66% success rate in 212 matches) are slightly worse.

Potter’s predecessor Tuchel is in seventh position, having coached 63 matches in the Premier League, 55.6% of which he brought to a winning conclusion.

Potter then receives mixed reactions from the fans. A section of supporters want him to be given time and confidence as he did a great job at Brighton. The other part, however, wants the team to get a boost.
