The name of striker Christopher Nkunku is attracting attention. The French playmaker has been on the radar of several leading European teams. According to the BILD newspaper, Chelsea have already secured a medical for the RB Leipzig player.
Striker or midfielder, Nkunku is a versatile offensive player who has been rocking Leipzig in recent seasons. Although he started his career at PSG, it wasn’t until he joined a Bundesliga side that he made a significant breakthrough.
Last season was a key one for him, in which he scored 20 goals in 34 games and set up another 13 for his teammates. Moreover, he showed that European competitions are no problem for him either. He scored seven goals in six games in the Champions League.
It is no wonder that leading European clubs started to circle around the 24-year-old. BILD newspaper reports interest from Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. However, one of the teams should already have a head start.
That is Chelsea, who have tried to secure the RB Leipzig player early. Representatives of the English outfit thus travelled to Nkunk during the week to undergo private tests.
Although sources close to the player deny any contacts with other clubs, it is very likely that the French footballer will leave the Bundesliga club after this season.
In fact, Nkunku is said to have a clause in his contract that should come into effect in the summer of 2023, which includes the option to buy the player for a sum of around €60 million.
the 24-year-old all-rounder has otherwise continued his excellent performances this season, in which he has already scored 6 goals in 11 games. He has also made 8 starts for the national team, having already notched two assists in the Nations League in June, but is still waiting for his debut goal.
