Massimiliano Allegri turned down Chelsea, Arsenal, PSG and Real Madrid only to become Juventus coach again after two years. How big a role did Cristiano Ronaldo play in that decision? According to the Italian coach’s latest statement, we can believe that it was really big!

Allegri became Juventus coach for the first time in the summer of 2014 and during his 5 seasons on the bench of the Old Lady, he enjoyed 5 titles. To this he added 4 Italian Cup trophies and 2 Italian Super Cup trophies.

Only, Juventus management needed to give the team a boost as they wanted to succeed especially in the Champions League. That’s why Cristiano Ronaldo came to Turin to once again bring the proud Italian team the coveted trophy.

However, he still failed to do so, even after the aforementioned change of coach. The last unsuccessful one was Andrea Pirlo, who was replaced on the bench by the aforementioned Allegri, who had a number of offers during the two-year break, but turned them all down just to lead Juventus again.

Ronaldo certainly played no small part in this, and the fifty-three year old coach will be expecting big things from him!

“Ronaldo is a great player and a very smart guy. I spoke to him yesterday, as I did with the others. I told him that this season will be very important and that I am happy to meet him again in the same team,” Allegri said about Ronaldo.

Even though Ronaldo is already 36 years old, he has a great record. In total, he has scored 101 goals and assisted another 22 for the Old Lady. Therefore, it is logical that Allegri will demand more from the Portuguese canon.

“But now he will have more responsibility, because 3 years ago we had a more experienced squad, while now there are younger players,” explained the experienced coach.

Juventus are also working on a new contract for Paulo Dybala, whose stay Allegri very much wants. “Dybala is a player who can score 20 or 25 goals in a season. I have already spoken to him and he is very motivated.”

Both Ronaldo and Dybala are already very experienced players who should pull Juventus forward next season, especially in terms of goals. As Allegri himself confirmed, both are in great shape and excited for next season.

The goal will be above all to return the Old Lady to the Italian throne and, if possible, to succeed in the Champions League.

Juventus will kick off the season on 22 August when they visit Udinese. After that, there will be a warm-up match at home against Empoli, followed by duels with Napoli and AC Milan.
