For a long time, London Chelsea have been circling around Moisés Caicedo. Brighton demanded over £100 million. Eventually Liverpool stepped in and stole the Ecuadorian gem.

Liverpool hesitated for a long time whether to even take part in the fight for the Ecuadorian, but finally it happened. The Anfield club flew in with an offer of £110 million. Brighton accepted the offer almost without hesitation, it met their wishes.

At a press conference, Jurgen Klopp faced questions over statements he made following Paul Pogba’s transfer to Manchester United.

It was July 2016 when Manchester United under Jose Mourinho were buying Paul Pogba. The French midfielder cost the red part of Manchester 100 million euros. At the time, the most expensive transfer in history. On the subject, Klopp said

As we can see from the transfers Klopp has ever made, he is not a proponent of expensive purchases. He prefers the path of young players he can develop.

But in recent years, football has changed, transfer sums have changed. Amounts of around a hundred million fly from side to side for each player after a single successful season. Clubs are asking for exorbitant amounts to make money or not lose players.

So Klopp logically faced his statement to which he said: ”To be honest, everything has changed. Do I like it? No. Do I realize I was wrong? Yes, definitely. That’s just the way it is.”

Klopp also confirmed, among other things, that the clubs have reached an agreement regarding the player and that the minor details of the player’s contract remain to be ironed out. When asked when Caicedo would undergo a medical, he replied, “I won’t tell you because I don’t know.”

Liverpool are thus buying a second player from Brighton after MacAllister. It seems that there is some sort of renewal going on in the team, which the club definitely needs after last season. Whether it will be enough for the upstart and above-standard City we will find out in the next few weeks.
