PSG played their first league game of the new season on Saturday at home. New signings, including Lionel Messi, were introduced to the fans before kick-off. The atmosphere was excellent, however Kylian Mbappé was booed before the duel.
The Parisian side hosted Strasbourg on Saturday night and although the strongest possible line-up was not yet in place, the match ended in a 4-2 win for PSG. Giorginio Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi were the new signings.
Before the match, however, PSG once again presented their star reinforcements to a packed stadium. The atmosphere was fantastic.
All the players received a big applause, but the biggest one was of course Lionel Messi.
However, such a positive atmosphere did not accompany the whole of the pre-match action. On the contrary. When the announcer in the stadium mentioned Kylian Mbappé’s name when announcing the line-up, the stadium started to boo loudly.
The reason, of course, is that the French offensive star still hasn’t signed a new contract with PSG. It expires after this season and the Parisian club is in danger of losing him without any profit.
While the club owner claimed that Mbappé had no reason to leave now as he wanted a competitive team, which he has now undoubtedly got, the reality may be different. Indeed, there is still talk of a move to Real Madrid.
