David Zima will not remember the 2022/23 season fondly. The 22-year-old stopper hasn’t made many appearances in Turin and now a big blow has come. The former Slavia and Sigma player has torn his meniscus and is facing surgery.
David Zima arrived in Turin, Italy, in the summer of 2021. He has settled in the team, starting 20 league games in the 2021/22 season.
However, he had shoulder problems last summer which caused him to miss the start of the season. He subsequently rejoined the team and again made the starting line-up, however, the problems returned at the beginning of the year.
Zima last played 19 minutes against Fiorentina and it looks like he won’t be adding more anytime soon. This time, however, it’s no longer his shoulder that’s bothering him, but his knee.
According to Italian website pazzidifanta.com, his knee has been bothering him for quite some time now, so he headed for a scan which didn’t go as expected. The stopper has torn his meniscus.
This means only one thing, Zima will take a forced break for at least one month. If everything goes well, he will be able to return to the match rhythm.
But as it happens, the injury may not turn out the best. If complications continue, Zima will have to undergo surgery.
In that case, the season would be defacto over for him, which is of course something the club wants to avoid. But certainty is certainty and Torino have brought in a replacement for Zima.
Andreaw Gravillon has joined the club, the twenty-four year old defender has arrived from Reims. Incidentally, this club tried to buy Aiham Ousou from Slavia, but the Sechivans did not opt to sell.
