Problems with partially or completely closed stadium due to the behaviour of its fans were recently experienced by Sparta, but now it is Slavia’s turn. UEFA’s control, ethics and disciplinary body has decided to close the North Stand for the next European match against Feyenoord.

Slavia lost 1:3 to Feyenoord Rotterdam in the return leg at home and failed to qualify for the dream semi-finals. Less than a month has passed since the match and in the meantime Feyenoord have advanced to the final.

But now the reverberations of that match have come. Slavia received a penalty that will not please the club or its fans.

The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) decided that due to lighting fireworks, throwing objects on the pitch and blocking passageways, the stadium’s capacity will be limited.

This must affect the North Stand, a total of 3 000 tickets must not go on sale in this stand. The capacity restriction applies to 1 European Cup match.

In addition, Slavia have been fined €15,000 for locking the emergency exits. So the penalty is not terrible, in the preliminary round of one of the European competitions the loud part of the fans will surely move south.

It can be expected that much worse punishments will be handed out to Eintracht Frankfurt, for example, whose fans invaded the playing area after reaching the final.
