Another big transfer in just a few days. A few dozen hours ago Barcelona announced the arrival of Robert Lewandowski, now Bayern have officially confirmed the transfer of Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus. How much will this player cost the Bavarian big club?
The twenty-two-year-old Dutch very talented footballer first put on the jersey of Juventus Turin in 2019, when he arrived from Ajax for 85.5 million euros.
And since then, he has made the same number of starts in Turin across all competitions as he did in his previous engagement, 117 to be precise. He scored eight goals and assisted three more.
According to The Guardian, the two clubs have agreed a transfer fee of €70 million. However, this may increase due to potential bonuses, which make another 10 million. So in total, Bayern would pay Juventus €80 million, a similar amount to what de Ligt came to Italy for.
De Ligt will thus undoubtedly become the leader of Bayern’s defensive line and should sign a contract until 2027.
A transfer fee of €80 million would then equal the team’s record. This is because Bayern brought Lucas Hernández from Atlético Madrid for the same amount in 2019. So far, the German giant has been very successful on the transfer front.
Ahead of de Ligt, who was also interested in London Chelsea, Ryan Gravenberch, Sadio Mané and Noussair Mazraoui joined Bayern.
De Ligt won three trophies during his time with Juventus. The Turin-based side dominated Serie A in the 2019/20 season and won the Scudetto, while the following year they won the Italian Cup and Super Cup.
