Liverpool hosted Inter Milan in the return leg of their Champions League semi-final match. They managed to win the first leg, so they tried to keep the lead at Anfield. The home side managed to do that, but Lautaro Martínez scored a great goal to at least level the score.
The first semi-final clash between Inter Milan and Liverpool at the San Siro was dominated by the English side, who won 2-0 after goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
The Italian giant needed to win by at least two goals in the rematch at Anfield to win the extra time. Nobody had high hopes for Inter, but Simone Inzaghi’s charges fought with honour.
Liverpool were the better team, had more control of the game and had a few more chances, but Inter won the game.
A beautiful goal in the 62nd minute was scored by Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, who scored Inter’s last goal in the Champions League this season.
Inter won only 1-0 in England and it was not enough to qualify. They can focus on trying to defend their league title, while Liverpool continue to struggle on multiple fronts.
