Messi joined Inter Miami in July 2023 and quite logically immediately became one of the biggest stars in MLS. The star Argentine has been used to breaking all sorts of records throughout his football career.

And it is in this context that he has continued his European career in America. Just recently, Messi became the player to record the most goals and 15 assists. He needed just 19 games to do so.

Moreover, he is still in contention to be the top scorer of the season. In any case, Messi was one of the key men who changed the club beyond recognition. Before his signing, Inter were struggling in the Eastern Conference, but now they lead the MLS table.

The Rosario native has previously remarked that Inter will be his last club in his prolific career. However, as per the latest reports, Messi seems to be on the verge of reaching his destination with regards to the Miami engagement.

British newspaper The Mirror reports that Messi has reportedly decided to leave the American outfit. However, not immediately, but after the end of his contract, at the end of December 2025. This means that the football legend has one last season in the MLS.

Messi wants to go back to Argentina!

According to El Nacional, the 37-year-old will move to Newell’s Old Boys when his current contract expires. That’s where he started his professional football career.

Messi has already commented once on a possible return to Argentina. In 2016, he admitted that if he returned to his home country, he would wear the Newell’s Old Boys jersey. But the question is the situation in the country, which the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has not liked for a long time.
