Florian Wirtz came to Leverkusen at a young age when he moved here from Cologne. He made his first starts in the jersey of the reigning Bundesliga champions in the 2019/20 season.

From the very next season onwards, he became a fixture in the squad and as a young talent in German football, he regularly featured in the starting line-up.

Wirtz has so far appeared in 159 competitive matches for Leverkusen, scoring 47 goals and adding 51 assists as an offensive midfielder. Individually, his best season was last season, when he scored 11 goals in 32 league games.
