Preston shock Fulham
The game between Preston and Fulham produced a dramatic spectacle with both teams having their chances. Ryan Ledson opened the scoring in the 35th minute when his shot ended up behind the keeper.
However,Fulham didn’t give up and in the 61st minute Reiss Nelson equalised to bring the game back to square one. Fulham then pressed and had several chances, but the home goalkeeper made some great saves and the game went to a penalty shootout.

The penalty shootout turned into a historic battle of nerves. In total, the players faced 34 attempts, 30 of which ended successfully in the goal.
The decisive moment came at the end – Timothy Castagne missed his attempt. Ledson then confidently converted his penalty to secure Preston’s progression to the next round of the Carabao Cup, sparking huge joy amongst the fans at Deepdale Stadium.
Other results from Tuesday’s matches
Apart from Preston’s shock win, there were other interesting matches on Tuesday. Everton continued their tragic season when they lost on penalties against Southampton. This despite leading after Abdoulaye Doucouré’s 20th minute goal.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis levelled the scores in the 32nd minute and in the ensuing shootout, Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy saved Ashley Young’s attempt.
Crystal Palace progressed past Queens Park Rangers thanks to Eberechi Eze’s winning goal and Brentford turned the game around against Leyton Orient to win 3-1.
Stoke City beat Fleetwood 2-1 on penalties. Sheffield Wednesday won 1: 0 against Blackpool and Manchester United crushed Barnsley 7: 0.
