Kevin De Bruyne speaks out about Saudi offers: if you tell Guardiola you want to leave, it’s possible
Kevin De Bruyne has recently been linked with a possible departure from Manchester City. It would understandably be a big loss for Pep Guardiola, as he has long been a key player for the dominant English outfit. The Belgian himself has now outlined what his future looks like.
Kevin De Bruyne has recently been linked with a possible departure from Manchester City. It would understandably be a big loss for Pep Guardiola, as he has long been a key player for the dominant English outfit. The Belgian himself has now outlined what his future looks like.
He is currently in Germany, where he is trying to go as far as possible with Belgium at the ongoing European Championships. On Monday at 18:00, his national team will face a tough duel against France, one of the biggest favourites of the whole championship.
But beyond that, Kevin De Bruyne has to constantly deal with all sorts of speculation about his future. In recent weeks he has been linked with a move away from Manchester City, where he has been a key player for years.
He is now 33 years old, but his performances have not shown it. He’s scoring goals, passing them on, creating chances. Pep Guardiola relies on him. But it’s no surprise that a star of that calibre would be happy to see in Saudi Arabia, where the big-money aces of world football are trying to lure him.
But how realistic is that? That’s the question De Bruyne has now sort of answered just ahead of the France game.
Will Kevin De Bruyne leave Manchester City?
The Belgian footballer is under contract at Manchester City until the summer of 2025, for one year. Whether there will be an extension is yet to be seen. However, given his performance, it won’t be a surprise if Pep Guardiola wants to keep him on.
But what about Kevin De Bruyne himself? “Yes, yes, I have read a lot of speculation about my transfer to Saudi Arabia, but I haven’t spoken to anyone about it yet. If a good offer comes, you tell Pep he wants to leave, it’s possible. That’s maybe a bit different to how it works at other clubs,” Fabrizio Romano is quoted as saying.
“But I never indicated that I wanted to leave. I have more than enough money. But if an absurd amount of money comes in, it will also be about my family, my relatives and the security of several generations,” the Belgian added.
Let’s hope we can still enjoy it in Europe for a while. After all, he is one of the best players on the planet.
