Portugal coach on fans on the pitch: if the fans didn’t have good intentions, the players would have been at their mercy

On Saturday at 18:00, another Group F match was played between Turkey and Portugal. The favourites from the Iberian Peninsula won 3:0 and are now clearly in first place. However, from an organisational point of view, the match was not as smooth as the result.

The Portuguese didn’t make the match difficult

The Portuguese scored their first goal after 20 minutes of play when Bernardo Silva made no mistake with a shot in the whitewash. The second goal was given to them by the Turks when stopper Akaydin and goalkeeper Bayindir misunderstood in a very curious situation. Stoper’s pass was heading for goal while the goalkeeper went for the ball outside the box.

The blemish on the match was a few unruly fans

However, this nice gesture had consequences. During the match, two more Ronaldo fans ran onto the pitch, but this time CR7 didn’t comply with the request, instead he avoided them and wanted them to leave the pitch.

“It’s a bit annoying because it interrupted the game. But that’s just the price of being a football star. But if I felt threatened? No,” Bernardo Silva, the scorer of the first goal, described his view of the situation.
