Negative prospects for Poland! Hopes of advancing from the group diminish without a key player
Poland will play in Group D at the European Championships together with Austria, France and the Netherlands. However, our northern neighbour will have to do without its biggest star at least in the first game, as Robert Lewnadowski suffered a muscle tear in the dress rehearsal.

Poland will face a very tough Group D, with France the clear favourite. The Netherlands will be looking for the second place and the third position will most likely be shared by Poland and Austria.
Team roster
The experienced thirty-four-year-old goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who currently plays for Juventus in Italy, has a relatively clear position between the three sticks. He is joined on the roster by Lukash Skorupski and Marcin Bulka.
Poland practises a three-defender system, with two players with Premier League experience playing regularly. In addition to Jan Bednark, it is also Jakub Kiwior, who broke through in the previous season in the jersey of Arsenal London. This pair is completed by Pawel Dawidowicz from Verona.
Poland’s biggest star in the midfield is Piotr Zielinski, who has been at Napoli in Italy since 2016 and is moving to Inter Milan in the summer. However, we mustn’t forget Nicola Zalewski, only twenty-two years old and an AS Roma offspring.
Jakub Moder, Kamil Grosicki, Damian Szymanski, Bartosz Slisz and Kacper Urbanski also made it into the nomination. Thus, there are not many players with a great reputation in the midfield.
The biggest star of the Polish team should have been Robert Lewnadowski. However, the experienced Barcelona striker was injured in the dress rehearsal against Turkey and it is already certain that he will miss at least the opening game against the Netherlands.
Karol Swiederski, who already scored in the aforementioned match with Turkey, will get a chance to show his qualities. Next to him could be the experienced Krzysztof Piatek, who scored seventeen goals in Basaksehir.
Poland qualified for the European Championship in Germany through a barrage of matches against Estonia and Wales. However, given the difficulty of the group at the final tournament, advancing to the knockout stage could be a big problem.
