Brian Priske’s departure from Sparta to Feyenoord Rotterdam is a done deal. The Dane will wear the red and white jersey. How much money will the Dutch club send to the Prague club and who will replace Priske?
He won’t be there when the preparation starts on June 18th. The main architect of Sparta Prague’s return to the limelight is heading to Feyenoord Rotterdam for a new challenge. After two years, Brian Priske will say goodbye to his record of two titles, one cup and eight Europa League finals.
“Brian Priske will become the new coach of Feyenoord, replacing Arne Slote. The details of the transfer will be finalized on Saturday,” wrote Fabrizio Romano, a respected journalist whose information is basically always true, on the social network X.
It will bring to a close a protracted transfer saga that started during Sparta’s title celebrations. According to iSport, the Dutch club will send 1.7 million euros, or more than forty million crowns, to Letná.
The most likely replacement is assistant Friis
In addition to the transfer sum, the football public is eagerly awaiting the announcement of Priske’s replacement. The biggest favourite to become Sparta’s new head coach is his first assistant Lars Friis. Priske would like to take his long-time collaborator with him to Feynoord, but Sparta are against it.
The man with experience from Copenhagen or Brentford is the clear number one choice for head coach for sporting director Tomas Rosicky. This condition should also be an important part of the negotiations for Priske’s move to the Dutch vice-champion’s cabinet.
Less likely, then, are other speculations. For example, the coach of the Letná reserve Luboš Loučka or another assistant Lucas Babalola have been mentioned in connection with the position of Sparta head coach. And former Slovácko coach Martin Svědík is out of a job.
Details are expected to be known during the weekend. However, all indications are that the 47-year-old Dane will swap the red jersey of Sparta for the red and white one of Feyenoord.
