The defending silver medalists are now in the quarterfinals. On Friday night, the Germans shot again and made up for the previous two debacles. The Czech forward Peterka, the author of a goal and three assists, was a big part of the big win against Kazakhstan.

After two 6:1 losses to strong opponents (USA and Sweden), the Germans made up for it with even bigger wins against Latvia 8:1 and most recently against Kazakhstan. Our western neighbours shot their opponents 8:2.

Buffalo forward John Peterko (1+3) and Wojtek Stachowiak, the author of four assists, had a good game. The Germans went on to score three more points without any major complications and are now in a comfortable situation with respect to the quarterfinals.

“We played a good game. After the bad games against Sweden and the USA we knew we had to improve and we did. We started well, but then we slackened off a bit and gave Kazakhstan a chance. But we managed to stop it,” Moritz Müller told Czech TV.

In addition to Peterka, Reichel also did well

The German captain was on the ice when, after 62 seconds, his teammates kicked off a goal machine that, despite occasional Kazakh moments, continued for the full 60 minutes. Chicago forward Lukas Reichel scored twice.

“We are frustrated, we lost for the fourth time in a row. We started really bad, we can’t play like this. We need to win. We need to play better defense, we need to be patient and we need to take chances,” said Kazakh defenseman Tamirlan Gaitamirov.

The Kazakhs still have only three points, which they got in their first game when they beat France 3-1. The fight to stay in the elite division will be very difficult for Galym Mambetaliyev’s charges. The match against Poland will be crucial.

It will be the last one in the group stage. Before that, the Kazakhs will face the United States on Sunday. The Germans are scheduled to play Poland on Saturday.
