Enrique after being knocked out of LM: I feel very sad, we hit the bar six times. What did the PSG coach think was the decisive factor in Dortmund’s win?

PSG made it to the knockout stage of the Champions League from second place in the group stage, which incidentally was dominated by Borussia Dortmund. However, the Parisians needed eight points to qualify, although AC Milan also collected the same number of points in six matches.
Luis Enrique’s charges defeated Real Sociedad in the eighth round (2:0, 2:1), and from the quarter-finals they went through to the next stage against Barcelona (2:3, 4:1). However, it was in the semi-final that they were stopped by the aforementioned Borussia.
The latter won both matches by the narrowest possible margin and advanced to the final. The first match was very attractive from both sides, but the subsequent home game was clearly PSG’s. Dortmund more or less only benefited from counter-attacks.
The German side, on the other hand, managed to eliminate the opponents’ stars in both games, including Kylian Mbappé, thanks to a very good defensive performance. Not only he had many chances to score in the rematch at the Parc des Princes, but none of them ended behind Gregor Kobel’s back.
The Paris Saint-Germain players shot six times on goal and Warren Zaire-Emery, for example, did not convert an absolutely certain opportunity.
Enrique, after being knocked out of the Champions League…
PSG coach Luis Enrique also spoke about the very poor finishing efficiency at the post-match press conference. Anyway, he praised his players for their attitude, he is proud of his team. But of course, he identified himself as the first person responsible for the defeat and not advancing to the final.
“I feel very sad, nothing else. We couldn’t achieve our goal. I don’t think we were worse, we scored six times. Sometimes football is not fair and that’s the strange thing about it, we produced 31 shots and didn’t score a single goal. We have to accept it, congratulate our opponents for reaching the final and get over our own disappointment,” Enrique said at the post-match press conference.
“We lacked efficiency. Dortmund scored two goals, one from a corner and the other after a long pass behind the defence. We should have controlled both situations, it’s the details that make the difference. We can take a lot of positives from both games,” continued the PSG coach.
“In the autumn nobody believed we could go so far and we made it to the semi-finals. We have a new project with a new coach and there have been a lot of changes. We can take a lot of positives into next season. We wanted the final for the fans, we must not bow our heads, even though it is very difficult,” Enrique added.
