Manchester City are favourites for the league title and they are proving it every game. After the win over Nottingham, they didn’t even give Wolves a chance, beating them 4-1 at home. All goals were scored by Norwegian striker Erling Haaland.
Manchester City is the favourite for the title, but at the time of the match they were 4 points behind Arsenal. The opponent in the fight for the Premier League triumph had played two games more, so the Citizens still had everything in their hands.
Wolves had nothing left to fight for and it showed on the pitch. After a foul by Rayan Ait-Nouri, the referee awarded a penalty kick and it was taken by striker Erling Haaland, who gave the goalkeeper no chance.
Haaland subsequently missed his header with accuracy, but in the 36th minute he could have enjoyed a second successive goal when Jose Sá’s header again gave him no chance to react. At the end of the half, Haaland was able to kick another penalty and it was 3-0.
Citizens had the game in their hands and no one doubted that they would not make it this time. After all, the 3: 0 lead at half time was almost not lost. Wolves had to work hard and it finally bore fruit.
In the 53rd minute, Hee-Chan Hwang reduced the deficit and gave the Wolves a little hope. However, Norwegian sharpshooter Haaland killed it with his fourth shot of the game, taking advantage of Phil Foden’s centre.
Haaland continued his fine run and almost netted his fifth goal but his bomb in the 60th minute was cleared by Sa. The Portuguese striker was in fine form.
In the 74th minute, he had to work his magic again when he tapped in Mateo Kovacic. But he couldn’t prevent the defeat and eventually cashed in once more when he was outmuscled by world champion Julian Álvarez.
The Citizens can celebrate three points after the 5-1 win. Haaland has 25 goals to his name, Cole Palmer is five goals behind him, which will be hard to beat.
