Better Lazio without Sarri? Roman fans think positive after cup exit
Lazio Rome have to do without a trophy this season. Tuesday’s 2-1 win in the Copa Italia semi-final was not enough to qualify for the final, as the opening match ended 2-0 to Juventus. Nevertheless, Roman fans can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The Copa Italia semi-final rematch was probably more dramatic than expected. Juventus had a two-goal lead at home, but it looked like extra time for a long time in Rome. But Arkadiusz Milik’s intervention changed everything.
The unexpectedly dominant Romans
Lazio outplayed Juventus in every way. They held the ball at 58 per cent, had nine shots in total and five of them went on target. Juventus only hit the space between the posts twice, but it was enough for a contact goal.
“Lazio were great regardless of the result. It’s a shame not to go to the final after such a performance. We will improve for next time,” wrote fan Giuseppe in a liked comment under Lazio’s Facebook post.
The return of the good times?
Fans may be surprisingly positive after the cup exit, but the reason is also the long-term view of Lazio football. New coach Giovanni Martusciello gives them hope that the club will play better football than Maurizio Sarri.
“Finally our game has an idea, finally there is a coach on the Lazio bench. Keep it up in the league,” wrote supporter Vincenzo.
Vincenzo, like the rest of the Lazio fans, was reassured by the good performance that Lazio has a future. In fact, the club took two slaps in recent weeks when one of the captains, Luis Alberto, announced his departure, as did winger Felipe Anderson.
In any case, the Romans have their work cut out for them in the league. From seventh place, they are three points behind the Top 5 guaranteeing the Champions League, but AS Roma have a game in hand. In the last five rounds, only champions Inter Milan await Lazio from the TOP 10 of the table.
