Many people have told me not to come here. But something in me told me I had to come here, says Inzaghi after winning the title with Inter

Inter Milan are Serie A champions! Coach Simone Inzaghi was ecstatic after the game and spoke of how he had perhaps finally silenced the critics who didn’t believe in him and his team.

Inter Milan shone especially in the first decade of the new millennium, winning Serie A in the 2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons.

The team was one of the best in the world and few suspected at the time that it would be the last time for a long time that one of these trophies would be lifted above the heads of the Nerazzurri players. They then went on to win the title in the 2020/21 season and now, in the 2023/24 edition.

Inter have 86 points and their lead over AC Milan is an abysmal 17 points. The players were able to celebrate on Monday evening, when they beat their rivals in second place. Meanwhile, there are still five rounds to go in the current season.

It must be said, Inter have been underestimated for a long time. Coach Inzaghi was fired by many upon his arrival, but the now successful coach later proved his qualities and reached the very top of Serie A with Inter.

So it’s no surprise that Inzaghi came before the press in good spirits after the title celebrations and was able to talk about what he had been through and also silence the critics who didn’t believe him.

“I will always be grateful to Lazio for giving me the opportunity to coach. Many people told me not to go to Inter. But something in me told me I had to come here,” he said in an interview with DAZN.

“Some people used to talk a lot, but now they are quieter. I don’t want to point at anyone, but today I can finally show off the trophies I won with my players,” he added.

Inter’s season is basically over, with only five league games left to play. In the Champions League, they fell to Atlético Madrid on penalties.
