Drama in London! Arsenal sent Bukayo Saka into a quick lead, but Bayern turned the first half score around thanks to a penalty

Arsenal’s opening Champions League quarter-final match against Bayern produced three goals in the first half. Bukayo Saka sent the Gunners into a quick lead, but Thomas Tuchel’s men turned the tide thanks to a penalty kick.

Arsenal had the better start to the opening quarter-final match. Already in the seventh minute Gabriel Martinelli got to the ball after a good pass and shot dangerously from the penalty area. He sent it just wide of the bar.

Five minutes later, however, the Gunners were celebrating a goal. Bukayo Saka worked Ben White’s pass very well on the edge of the box and then sent the ball beautifully into the bottom left corner. You can see the first goal of the game in the video below.

In the 16th minute, Arsenal players created another chance, which was taken by the aforementioned White. The 26-year-old English defender found himself alone in front of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, but he only sent his shot into the middle of the net.

Two minutes later, the penalty came. Bayern took advantage of the home team’s mistake in the final stages of the offensive action, Leon Goretzka slid the ball to Gnabry, who made no mistake from close range – 1: 1!

For an impartial spectator, the first half of the clash between Arsenal and Bayern was very entertaining. The home team had more chances, but the visitors from Munich enjoyed the lead after the first 45 minutes.

Harry Kane converted a penalty kick in the 32nd minute after a foul by William Saliba to put his team in the lead. Leroy Sané had a great opportunity to score three minutes later, when he was alone in front of David Raya’s goal.

However, the 28-year-old German forward couldn’t even finish. Both teams went into the box with a score of 1:2. In the second half, Arsenal will try not only to erase the one-goal deficit, but also to turn around the opening quarter-final match.

Thesecond leg between Real Madrid and Manchester City is identical. However, the difference is that the home side are in the lead at the Santiago Bernabeu.
