Vinícius shoots down Osasuna and brings Real Madrid closer to the title

Real Madrid won their last league game before the national break, beating Osasuna 4-2. Two goals were scored by winger Vinícius Júnior and the favourite remains fearlessly at the top of La Liga. Second-placed Girona are ten points behind with a game to spare.

The visitors struck from the first big chance of the match, with Vinícius Júnior scoring in the fourth minute. However, the joy did not last long. Three minutes later, Ante Budimir had space in the whitewash and equalised with a cross to the right post.

The tense start continued with a chance for Vinícius, but the Brazilian technician’s shot went just wide of the goalkeeper’s gloves. The goalkeeper had to intervene on the other side as well, with Jesus Areso firing from the edge of the area to win a corner for his team.

However, nothing came of it, on the other hand, Daniel Carvajal restored Los Blancos’ lead after a Federico Valverde centre. Jose Manuel Arnaiz could have equalised again, but he missed the target. In any case, Osasuna played an even game.

This was confirmed in the 41st minute, when Andriy Lunin had to come on. That was the last chance of the opening half and Real Madrid led 2-1. After the change of sides, they dominated, tried to add a decisive goal, but couldn’t get any dangerous shots.

In the 61st minute, however, Brahim Díaz headed towards the right post and the goalkeeper had no chance of dealing with his cross. And three minutes later, the visitors celebrated again. For the second time in the match, Vinícius was delighted with a similar shot to Díaz.

Real Madrid were enjoying the end of the game, with goalkeeper Sergio Herrera pulling out a shot from Rodrygo. Then Lucas Vazquez struck from offside, while on the other side, Iker Munoz scored a regular goal to make it 2-4.

This was the end of the match, as Arda Guller’s shot from the set-up ended up on the goal post. Real Madrid remain first, Osasuna tenth.
