Jannik Sinner moves up to No. 3 in the ATP rankings
After his January campaign at the first Grand Slam tournament of the season at the Australian Open, where the 22-year-old Italian tennis player won his maiden Grand Slam title. He did not falter in the second tournament this season in which he entered. And he comfirmed his best form so far this season.
In the 2024 season Jannik Sinner has not yet known the bitterness of defeat. And his streak this year already counts twelve winning matches in a row. After his 12th title on the ATP circuit, he moves up to a lifetime No. 3 in the latest rankings.
As for this season, Novak Djokovic has finally found a new challenger. Sure there was Carlos Alcaraz, who managed to beat him at times. But now another new blood is already making his presence known in a big way, who can make Djokovic’s 2024 season uncomfortable.
So this year won’t just be the year of Rafael Nadal’s not so good farewell season so far. But there will also be a chase of young predators to unseat the not very popular world number one player Novak Djokovic.
Maybe these young players will manage to make this season so uncomfortable for the Serb that he will change his mind about grandiose statements that he will be on the ATP circuit until he is 40!
Back to Sinner, he replaces Russian Daniil Medvedev at No. 3, who just beat Sinner in last year’s final in Rotterdam. The Italian tennis player downed de Minaur in their sixth duel. And he went on to win his second tournament triumph of the year quite comfortably.
It will be more than interesting to see how the young Italian fares this season. Maybe he will emulate the assault on the world throne like Rafael Nadal’s ‘clone’ Carlos Alcaraz did two years ago. The latter, by the way, failed to defend his title at the Buenos Aires tournament, where he crashed out in the semi-finals.
