The head of the organization, Dana White, revealed on his Instagram the news that the mixed martial arts world has been waiting for for weeks. The UFC 300 anniversary gala finally got its main event. The fight will be for the light heavyweight championship belt.
Dana White has announced the main event of the anniversary tournament
The mixed martial arts world has been in high anticipation for weeks. All the fans were waiting for the announcement of the main fight of the three hundredth anniversary gala of the biggest MMA organization in the world. But all speculation is over.
It was supposed to be the biggest card yet to enter MMA history. At least that’s the information UFC boss Dana White was alluding to when he talked about the UFC 300 anniversary gala. It will take place on April 13 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and if all the fights work out, White will definitely live up to his words.
Of course there has been a lot of speculation over the tournament, the aura of a historic tournament is huge after all. However, the return of the legendary Conor McGregor or Jon Jones will not happen after all. The main title fight will be for the light heavyweight championship belt.
This information was brought by the UFC boss himself on his Instagram. He confirmed that division champion Alex Pereira will defend his title against Jamahal Hill in April.
The latter took advantage of a unique opportunity last January when he won the UFC light heavyweight title from the sixth spot in the rankings after an injury to Jiri Prochazka. That’s when he dominated an aging Glover Teixeira. But karma worked again, and after challenging Prochazka and devaluing his success, he seriously injured himself and, in the manner of the Czech samurai, relinquished his title.
He then took the title for himself from former Glory champion and UFC middleweight titleholder Alex Pereira. At November’s UFC 295, he defeated the returning from injury Prochazka, who he caught with an accurate combination in the second round.
Now, all of those involved will collide again in one gala, and the biggest one at that. Procházka is also on this spectacular card as he welcomes back from injury Aleksander Rakic.
The complete UFC 300 card
The UFC card thus appears to be complete and it is an absolute showstopper. Judge for yourself:
Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill (light heavyweight title fight)
Weili Zhang vs. Yan Xianonan (women’s strawweight title fight)
Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway (BMF title fight)
Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan (lightweight)
Jiri Prochazka vs. Aleksandar Rakic (light heavyweight)
Aljamain Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar (featherweight)
Bo Nickal vs. Cody Brundage (middleweight)
Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Cody Garbrandt (bantamweight)
Holly Holm vs. Kayla Harrison (women’s bantamweight)
Sodiq Yusuff vs. Diego Lopes (featherweight)
Jéssica Andrade vs. Marina Rodriguez (strawweight)
Jim Miller vs. Bobby Green (lightweight)
