The Boston Bruins lost for the second time in a row at the TD Garden, this time to Tampa Bay 2:3 after a shootout. Brad Marchand played his 1,000th regular season game but did not get the win. Connor McDavid had a 6 point show against the Red Wings.

Brad Marchand played his 1,000th regular season game

Brad Marchand played his 1000th NHL regular season game, just like Vegas Golden Knights player Alex Pietrangelo did a day earlier.

Marchand gave a great effort in the game, he was obviously more motivated than ever and recorded two points for two assists in the game. As did Czech forward David Pastrnak, who improved his season tally to 77 points on 33 goals and 44 assists and continues to hold third place in scoring. However, he has already been matched in points by Connor McDavid.

The Boston team after being able to erase Tampa Bay’s two-goal lead, still fell after a shootout. Marchand has already reached the 50-point mark this season with 25 goals and 25 assists. He has 912 points on 397 goals and 515 assists in 1,000 games. He is already the fifth most productive man in franchise history.

Nikita Kucherov has already surpassed 90 points

Scoring leader Nikita Kucherov scored Tampa Bay’s second power-play goal of the game at 21:06. And he became the first player this season to surpass the 90-point mark. It took him just 53 games to do it, scoring 34 goals and 56 assists.

It’s the fastest in Tampa Bay history to reach that mark. Only five other players have broken the 90-point mark in less than 55 games in the last 30 years. Connor McDavid has even done it twice with Mario Lemieux. Jaromir Jagr, Sidney Crosby and Wayne Gretzky have also done it.

Connor McDavid dishing out passes in a game against Detroit

In the Edmonton Oilers vs. Detroit Red Wings game (8:4), which ended in a goal-scoring shootout, Oilers captain Connor McDavid was there for all the action. Edmonton played a completely even game with Detroit for the first two periods, but in the third period they finally broke the Red Wings resistance with five goals.

McDavid was a big part of that, as he notched 6 assists in the game. It was his second six-point performance of his career. He tied David Pastrnak, the third man in scoring, with 77 points. However, he has fewer goals scored.

In this duel, he also broke the mark of 600 assists in the regular season, and it took him only 616 games to do it. Only Wayne Gretzky (416 games), Mario Lemieux (514) and Bobby Orr (608) have done it faster.

He now has 927 points on 324 goals and 603 assists. So we can expect this player to break the 1,000 point mark in the NHL next season.
